Revascularization is a medical procedure aimed at restoring blood flow to an area of the body that has been deprived of it. This can occur due to a variety of reasons such as blockages in the blood vessels, injury, or disease. The goal of revascularization is to improve the oxygen and nutrient supply to the affected area, prevent tissue death, and improve function.

Revascularization is commonly used to treat conditions such as peripheral artery disease, coronary artery disease, and stroke. In peripheral artery disease, the blood supply to the legs and feet is restricted, causing pain and decreasing mobility. Angioplasty or bypass surgery can restore blood flow and improve symptoms.

Stroke is a medical emergency in which the blood supply to a part of the brain is disrupted, causing damage to the brain. Revascularization procedures such as thrombectomy can remove the blood clot causing the stroke and restore blood flow to the brain, improving outcomes and reducing the risk of disability.
